OTIS records remain active for three years after someone's discharge from MDOC supervision. After that, they are removed unless the person resumes supervision. Status codes like PRISON, PAROLE, PROB, and DISCHRG tell you where someone is in the system at any point.

FOIA Requests for Huron County Booking Records

Under Michigan's Freedom of Information Act at MCL 15.231, the public has the right to access records held by the Huron County Sheriff's Office, including booking releases and arrest records. This right applies to all persons, with a few exceptions. You do not need to be a resident of Huron County to submit a request.

Your FOIA request must be written. Describe the record clearly so staff can find it. For a booking record, give the name of the person arrested, the date or approximate date of the booking, and what specific records you want. Email, mail, and fax are all accepted submission methods. Use ICHAT when you need to confirm whether someone has a formal conviction record in Michigan, as opposed to just being arrested or booked.

What a Huron County Booking Record Shows

Each booking record at the Huron County Jail contains the arrested person's full legal name, date of birth, the exact date and time of booking, the charge or charges they were arrested on, and the bond or bail amount set for their case. Physical description information including height, weight, and any distinguishing marks may also be part of the record. An inmate ID number is created during the booking process.
